Volunteering for the Club
Chelmsford City Swimming Club is run by volunteers, and without their support the club would cease to exist!
We continually look to our members and the parents of our members for ongoing support and if you have the time, commitment and potentially the skills to volunteer in any capacity we would love to hear from you.
As a volunteer you will be able to:
- Put your existing skills to good use and learn new skills as you do.
- Help to make a difference by giving something back to our club
- Be a part of the events and activities we undertake
- Have fun and get involved.
There are many roles available, from helping poolside at events and galas, coaching and developing the skills of our members, to working behind the scenes in any number of administrative roles that need to be completed.
We are also keen to enlist the help of our younger members and encourage them to share the knowledge and skills that they have developed over the years. To this effect, we see many members volunteer as part of the Duke of Edinburgh Award.
Some of the current roles we are looking for volunteers for include:
- Workforce Coordinator
- Swim 21 Coordinator
- Competition Secretary Water Polo
- Competition Secretary Masters
Plus, we are also looking at fundraising to finance training for new swimming coaches and therefore if this is something that you may be interesed in doing to help our club then please get in touch.
If you are interested in finding out ways in which you can get more involved, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
“I want to get involved, but I can’t because I don’t know anything about swimming!”
You can volunteer regardless of how much you know about swimming – there are any number of activities and tasks that need your knowledge and skills.
“ I don’t have the time to commit to volunteering every week!”
Support is needed in a variety of areas, with many different levels of time commitment. Some activities do need a weekly commitment, whereas others could be for a single event. We would be grateful for any help you can offer, no matter how little or how much time you can contribute.
“I don’t know anyone at the club!”
Volunteering is a great way to get involved and get to meet the other parents and volunteers at the club. It is easy to sit poolside, read a book or just drop your swimmers off, however once you get involved and start volunteering, you will be surprised to find out how many people you can get to know and that you might even enjoy it!
“I don’t have any experience!”
Everyone has to start somewhere and often a fresh perspective on things without the politics of having been involved for a long time helps to look at things in a new way and start to make positive changes.
As a club we are fortunate to have the fantastic support of our parents and fundraising activities take place over the course of the year, including raffles and cake sales at our club events, bag packing at local supermarkets, commission from associated companies such as our kit supplier and social events coordinated by our Social Secretary.
Money raised from these activities is used for a variety of purposes which can be for the benefit of the Club as a whole, such as the Annual Club Presentation Evening or for section specific needs such as training equipment or social events.
A number of initiatives are currently in place including the recycling of ink cartridges and the commission from ProSwimwear when you use the Club link on the Home Page of the website to place an order and we would encourage all members to support these whenever possible.
We are continually looking for new ways to raise funds to support the club and for parents and members to get involved to help us to do this and therefore if you have any fundraising initiatives we could consider or you want to get more involved in fundraising for your section, please contact us at email@example.com.
