Welcome to Competitive Swimming

What is Competitive Swimming?

The Competitive Swimming section of Chelmsford City Swimming Club offers a structured development programme, providing swimmers from the age of 7 upwards, with the opportunity to develop their swimming skills and enable them to represent our Club at a competitive level.

Swimmers can take part in competitions from the age of 9 and the Club regularly enters teams in league and trophy competitions as well as the Essex County Championships, Swim England East Regional Championships and Swim England National Championships. The Club holds an annual Club Championship, which is open to all members. This gives everyone a chance to compete, including the under 9’s and the Masters.

Competition swimming is fun; it creates great team spirit and can be very rewarding. It involves a certain amount of commitment from both parents and swimmers alike, and it helps keep children fit!

To join children must have good stroke technique and the stamina to swim 250 metres. There are free trial sessions available and squad allocation is based on age, experience, ability and a commitment to training.

If you are looking to join our Club, please contact us on info@chelmsfordcityswimmingclub.org.uk and we will be happy to discuss the different options available to you and which is the most suitable squad to join.

Mini League

The Essex Mini League is a competition between the amateur swimming clubs in Essex, based on one division with 16 member clubs. The aim is for each club to swim five galas, hosting one of them. The league arranges the fixture list so that each club will swim against every other club in the league during the season and not swim against the same club more than once. Galas are swum on the second Saturday of a month between February and October (excluding August).
